As you may know if you have read my first archived post, I set my intention to embark on a number of projects. My personal project and the joint venture with my mentor have, to some extent merged, though they have been placed to the side for the sake of my school work and his professional work. Perhaps I have been too ambitious, my usual zeal has put me in many situations in which ignorance and inability are disregarded for the sake of a vision. I'm sure it's a common enough mistake, and rather too much zeal than half-hearted scraping by, but it is folly either way. I have completed a recent project, bringing a joint team venture through to its gold stage. If I compare it to professional work I would say it is dreadfully under developed, but comparing it to my own scant previous work it's really a rather vibrant testament to my progress.
Soon I will provide pictures, and perhaps even video to demonstrate this most recent work. I'm putting up a gallery to show off my progress and growing skill (and by skill I mean steadily increasing approximation of adequacy). Such a wide gulf exists between theory and practice, so much that is proper is left to the wayside for the sake of timely delivery. I know it is to be expected, such experiences are part and parcel to professional development. I suppose it is the poet in me that mourns the loss of a perfect potential for the sake of a hopefully adequate actuality. As they say, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Let me mourn briefly and then I will return to honing my craft. My aim is to engage my self in a few short projects, aspects of levels and rough outlines of such. My aim is to hone my skill so that I will, going forward, more quickly move from conception to design.
